Withdrawal, anyone?
YES!!! They get me all pumped take a 4 game lead in the A.L. EAST, then take their lead and go home for 4 days. :slytf:

In my rat's ass of an opinion, the bullpen in particular, needed that long, 4-day rest ...... physically, mentally, and emotionally.

This long layoff only happens once a year, and considering how badly our bullpen needed the time off, the Oriole baseball-less 4 days was definitely worth it to me.

Oh I agree it was more sarcastic then anything, let's hope CD comes back on fire gee's that average can't go any lower can it? Also hope Machado is nimble in the batters box he may need to step out quickly

If I spring a leak she mends me

I don't have to speak she defends me

A drunkard's dream if I ever did see one

Good luck had just stung me

To the race track I did go

She bet on one horse to win

And I bet on another to show

Odds were in my favor

I had him five to one

When that nag came around the track

Sure enough we had won

    • More Corbin Burnes day please. 19 whiffs yesterday for Burnes with curveball generating 5 whiffs (on just 7 swings) and slider generating 7 whiffs (on just 8 swings).  Definitely the best his breaking stuff has looked all year.  Key was starting in zone and dropping out, whereas Burnes had been burying too many into the dirt and not starting the pitches competitively within the zone.  Palmer has mentioned Burnes preference to stay away/away with most offerings, but yesterday Burnes finally seemed to vary location at least a little bit and pitched to more quadrants (sprinkled sinkers in to RHs and cutters in to LHs).  To me that is what made offspeed more effective instead of hitters staying back and looking away/away.
    • For all the gnashing of teeth from some about him only going 6 innings every time, he's only 1 inning short of Zack Wheeler who is largely considered the best SP in baseball.
    • rWAR is Baseball-Reference (some call it bWAR).  fWAR is Fangraphs.  fWAR now uses OAA as one if its main inputs for defense.   Some people are complete OAA converts and believe it’s vastly superior to the other advanced defensive metrics.  I’m still in the mode of looking at all of them (Fangraphs publishes OAA and it’s old stat UZR, BB-ref publishes Rdrs and Rtot).  If there’s a consensus, I buy it.  If 3 of 4 basically agree, I buy it.  If it’s a split, I go with whichever ones agree with my eye test.   Not exactly scientific but it keeps me sane.
    • GM John Mozeliak did a 15-minute sit down with the local NBC affiliate a few days ago - some of what was discussed was TV revenue uncertainty.    It was interesting to compare that with the Orioles partnership having the club and network to maneuver with.
    • I happened to see him yesterday.  The game results aren’t on Savant yesterday but I kept looking for this new cutter and kept seeing 96 mph fastballs and sliders.  Pretty sure Savant showed like a 90% cutter usage before that game.  Now it’s down to 66% and shows more of the fastball and curve.   He have up a double to a LH hitter on a slider but looked good overall.   His last pitch was a 12-6 slider/curve which could be a great swing and miss pitch.  The mechanics looked smooth and the fastball command looked good.  I’m just curious if he was throwing cuttters and they break like sliders or he just wasn’t throwing it yesterday.   Maybe @Tony-OH knows?
    • With the infield depth in the Os pipeline, I'm beginning to think that Holiday should get some run in CF to see if he's capable of being Mullins heir apparent.  Mullins currently is under control thru 2025 and would be a FA in 2026.  Currently, the organizational depth at CF isn't great and I believe with Holiday's body type, he could potentially fit in at that position.  I'd like to see next year's non-pitching roster look something like this: C-Rutschman 1B-Mountcastle 2B-Westburg SS-Henderson 3B-Mayo LF-Cowser CF-Holiday RF-Kjerstad Bench - backup catcher, Hays (2026 FA), Mullins (2026 FA), O'Hearn (2026 FA), Mateo (2026 FA)/Norby
